Celebrating lives saved through organ donation

Currently, nearly 2,600 men, women, and children in Michigan, and more than 106,000 nationwide, are awaiting lifesaving organ transplants. Each day, on average, 90 lives are saved by an organ transplant in the USA; but 20 people die daily waiting for a transplant that never comes.

During National Donate Life Month (NDLM), Spectrum Health Lakeland encourages community members to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and celebrates those that have saved lives through the gift of donation.

More than 9,000 Michigan patients have received a life-saving organ transplant in the past 10 years. Many tens of thousands more have benefited from tissue and corneal transplants.

You can also show your support for organ donation by purchasing a “Donate Life” Michigan license plate. Proceeds from the purchase of this plate help support organ donation awareness.
